Melissa got us off to rousing start by inducting a New Member! Erin has joined Notable Northgaters.

John, as the Opener, and returning from a long absence, had several thoughts on what he’d define as a dream job. Primarily, it’s what you’d be doing if you had a choice, AND could get paid for it.

Dale talked about what he wanted to say, and then did say, to his hero. Seems his wife upstaged him a bit……The key point is to get to know them as a person, how they enjoy their job, what they do in their spare time, what their hobbies are…..that’s the path to being memorable…..

James took us “Inside the Cloud”. He talked about how the nebulous concept of a computing service has evolved and grown. It started out as just a part of your network that you did not control (essentially just a link), to a source of functionality. Today there is a “server from the cloud” that can be purchased/rented that has very short delivery times and very low cost.

Table Topic Master Melissa had some job descriptions, and we were to tell us why that description would be your dream job. Wanna be an Actor? How about a Sportscaster? Maybe a Wedding Planner? How about a Publisher? How about a Dog Day Care Owner? We had a chance to explore those concepts…….

Veteran Evaluator Mike led the Evaluation section of the meeting. Fred evaluated Dale’s speech, Will evaluated James. Mike covered well for Will as he returned from the Secret Evaluation Room, where he had been preparing his evaluation…..Mike as General Evaluator covered the meeting well – touching on almost every role and how it contributed to the meeting.

Toastmaster Barney commented on the difficulty of following GE Mike as a speaker…..
