April 21st Meeting Minutes

Apr 23rd, 2010 | By Scott Champion | Category: Meeting Summaries

James served as our acting president for the very ill Melissa who couldn’t be with us. Something was definitely in the air with several members home sick or sick in the room. Patrick served as acting secretary for Richard who was also MIA.

The meeting started with a bang on Wednesday as we voted and welcomed our newest member Joe into the fold. Congratulations!!

We had one returning guest Rich who is interested in joining in June after he finishes several weeks of work travel. We also entertained two new guests, Lassie who has a performing arts background, and Mary who made a casually late entrance but thoroughly enjoyed the last hour of our meeting.

Our Toastmaster Fred had “Something in the Air” for Odd Wednesday. We each selected a piece of paper that included three items that we had to perform or say every time we spoke. Very odd indeed!

The word of he day was provided by Yao – Love – Love is in the air, and it was used countless times during the meeting. Countless because Yao didn’t count, but it was a good choice with many people incorporating it into their responses.

We enjoyed two speeches. Cindy told us the story of an eventful BBQ that used all of her senses and Barney persuaded us to look at the similarities between every pixel of a piece of art and the voice of every American in his speech reminding us that such opposite partisanship will eliminate very valuable and beautiful pieces of the American Landscape.

Michelle led us in a long session of Table Topics that required our members (and encouraged the guests) to participate in the Odd Wednesday antics while testing our cool at replying to thoughtful questions that left something in the air.

James ran straight into the general evaluation session doing a stellar job. Steve evaluated Cindy’s speech and Dale gave feedback to Barney.

Most Improved Speaker: Cindy
Best Table Topics: Patrick
Best Evaluator: Steve
Toast of the day: Michelle
