April 28th Meeting Minutes

Apr 29th, 2010 | By Scott Champion | Category: Meeting Summaries

Melissa returned from her illness only to let us know that Yao was sick and would be replaced by Steve as Toastmaster. Being sick seemed to be a sub-theme of the night as Michelle provided the opener letting us know that what she wished for was good health and a decent night sleep.

Before we found out what everyone else yearned for, we met first-time guest Lizzy who is a recent graduate of Seattle University and is involved in her family business. We also celebrated that Mary would no longer be a guest—as she turned in her membership check. Hooray!

Steve did a marvelous job filling in at the last minute as our Toastmaster.   Julie earned her Advanced Communicator Bronze designation with her wonderful story about Bird Woman aka Sacagawea. Karin won best speaker for her well-researched speech on the generations and what each of the four generations bring to the workplace.

James led an incredibly creative Table Topics session asking us to “Make a Wish” for celebrities. Nearly everyone received a vote in the final tally–always a good sign that there no bad questions! Erin took home the Table Topics ribbon with her answer about Madonna’s wish for normalcy.

Will was our general evaluating, overseeing Mike’s evaluation of Julie’s speech and Patrick’s critique of Karin’s presentation. Fred gave a humorous grammarian’s report, and toast of the day was given to Mary for speaking with confidence in Table Topics. John G was a fantastic snitch as ah counter, catching all of the superfluous noises we didn’t mean to say.

Until next week….
