July 7th Meeting Minutes
Jul 10th, 2010 | By Scott Champion | Category: Meeting SummariesHello friends,
Your substitute secretary reporting for duty! Attached you will find two sets of minutes. My apologies for the delay in sending the minutes from 6/16; the end of TM’s year corresponds with my end of work’s year, and I found myself juggling a few too many things. Glad to be caught up now!
Last night’s meeting was fun. We tried out a few new things, including placing the word of the day on the floor under the table. I rather liked the placement, but we’ll see what the TM does next week.
We also tried to end the meeting closer to 6:45 at the urging of our first speaker. Ray’s persuasive speech #9 from the CC manual focused on a history of our club and the various times we have met to accomodate more members needing speaking slots. Since our club no longer has 44 members demanding slots, Ray suggests we shorten the meeting to 6:45 so we can all gain fifteen extra minutes on a Wednesday night. Were you persuaded? If so, talk to the officer team and let them know if you want to try a change or if you like the meeting as is.
The second speaker was also giving a persuasive speech, #9 from the CC. Karin told us the top seven reasons we should watch the Tour de France. Who knew that bicycling had heroes and villains; that sounds exciting! I think she persuaded others because won our Most Improved Speaker Ribbon. Other ribbon winners included Dale & Michelle tying for best evaluator and guest Lynn winning best Table Topics.
The big news of the night was James and the new officer team taking over the helm. It has been a smooth transition so far thanks to the mentoring and guidance to last year’s team. Here’s to another President’s Distinguished Club year in FY2010-11!!
Respectfully,
Michelle W
